Original medal ribbon for the British World War 2 Atlantic Star. This is New-Old-Stock , as in medal ribbon made in the period of initial issue, which was subsequently not cut and issued. I have listed the item as new therefore, but to all intents and purposes, the ribbon you will receive will be a genuine period piece.
You will note the superior glossy finish to the ribbon in comparison to more modern gross-grain reproduction ribbons. This is due to the silk content of the ribbon as opposed to being purely cotton as modern ribbons are.
The colours of ocean blue, white and sea green represent the colours of the Atlantic Ocean. Â
